Community Based Day Services (CBDS) engage Riverside participants in a range of community experiences, programs and trainings. CBDS is designed to meet each participant's interests with opportunities for experiential learning and skills development. As a Pathway to Employment, CBDS participants acquire job skills and the opportunity to implement them as they volunteer at local non-profits, social services and civic organization.
CBDS experiential learning covers a broad range of activities promoting physical and cognitive health and well-being. Organized activities in the greater community provide a heightened awareness about the world around us and learning opportunities for socialization and communication. They include trips to local museums, parks, libraries, events, public safety organizations and nature excursions. These outings are supplemented with classes in nutrition, self-advocacy, current events, writing, computer skills, meditation, yoga, music appreciation, and innovative art projects.
